Zooming a responsive web site
This came up today and started a discussion. A responsive site that we’re looking at changes from ‘normal’ to ‘mobile’ as you zoom the page in.
Should this be failed as unexpected behaviour experienced by the user when using the page?

Hmm, really interesting question. I’m inclined to say probably yes in most cases, because most mobile responsive designs look quiet different to their desktop counterpart and will definitely cause some confusion if you find yourself bumped from one to another when you just thought you were enlarging the text.

Thanks for the replies. My thinking is the same as yours James, that the sudden change may disorientate the user.
Yes it may change when you zoom in. AS normal website behave differently with respect to the responsive one. But in some cases you find not too much change in this scenario
